Capital Vélo Fest Inc.

Incorporated in March, 2011, Capital Vélo Fest Inc. is a non-profit corporation based in Ottawa, Ontario with the mission to:

Inspire people of all ages to ride a bike more often

The National Capital Region’s existing network of urban pathways, nearby cross country trails and rural villages can be developed to become an internationally recognized destination for cycling. Riding bikes more often is good for individual and community health, spanning personal wellness and economic growth. By contributing to the development of the cycling culture in the region, our efforts will have enduring benefits for residents and visitors from around the world.

How Our Organization Fulfills Our Mission

We create and promote cycling events and activities that have elements of education, information and entertainment. We partner with cycling groups, businesses and government agencies to develop cycling skills and knowledge in youth, families, employees and seniors. Our events use fun as a persuasive force to influence the choice to ride.  Commuting bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes, e-bikes — we love them all!  Unicycles, two-wheelers, tandem bikes, and trikes — riding a bike is fun in all of its forms! We combine the pleasure of cycling with education, information, and entertainment in bicycle festivals, bicycle rallies and bicycle rodeos to encourage people to get on their bikes, for more reasons and more seasons.

We participate in cycling research and contribute to the development of knowledge and best practices to increase the use of existing, and encourage the development of new, cycling infrastructure.

Want To Be Involved?

We will continue to develop innovative programs that encourage cycling.  Attend our public events to enjoy cycling in the Capital Region with a unique twist, or contact us to arrange a cycling event dedicated and customized to your group.  If your organization would like to be involved in Capital Vélo Fest or if you have an idea for an innovative initiative that fits with our mandate, please contact us.
